Last week was all about celebration for a lot of my friends and me. Remember last time I told you my roommate was going to make his life complicated. Well I was absolutely right. I knew he was up to something and he wanted to give a big surprise to everyone.
He got engaged!!!
So here is the story:
My roommate and his fiance (Cynthia) were celebrating two years of dating. That same morning Cynthia got a friend of ours to put a package and a big poster with a song by my roommate’s door. It was a romantic Spanish song that describes their relationship. During the afternoon he finished fixing his present for her, it was a small box with a little craft he made himself. His intention was to make her think it was a ring box (I know… he is mean). They didn’t see each other that much during the day because of classes, so they had already planned to go out and have a romantic dinner. According to my roommate, the dinner was nice, but it was over too soon. He had everything premeditated for 10:00pm and Cynthia wanted to leave the restaurant around 9:00pm. So here comes the killing time process. He went to the bathroom and called some people that needed to be ready at ten and asked them if they could be ready in a few minutes. But of course they said no. So he had to kill more time. He paid the waiter, so he would disappear and take a long time to bring them the bill, that way they would not be able to leave; he couldn’t leave the restaurant without paying the bill. The funny thing is that the waiter immediately went to the table and gave them the bill.
Well, the pressure was on, as you can see and he was running out of ideas about what to do. He didn’t have any more choices than to pay the bill and reschedule his plan. So he paid the bill and the waiter took it. He started talking about random things and after a while Cynthia started complaining about how long it was taking to get their change back.Around 30 minutes later they got their change back and were ready to head back. He only needed 30 more minutes to be sure that everything was going to be OK.
At the car they found an ad at their windshield. My roommate was super excited about it! That was the sign that the other group had to put if everything was OK. They were heading back to Harding and a police car was following them. He had never had good luck with the police. He always gets pull over and all the time he was been dating Cynthia they have problems with cops.
So, here they are stopped by the police in their anniversary. The officer asked him for his license and registration and after that he asked him to get out of the car. After a few minutes the cop asked Cynthia to come out of the car too. She was really nervous and didn’t have a clue what in the world was going on.
According to my roommate, the night was cold but there were a lot of stars. According to Cynthia, she was nervous and she was about to cry.
The police officer started checking the car and after a few seconds he came with a little box asking, “Is this yours?” They admitted it was theirs. Cynthia took the box and showed the officer that was a little present he got for her anniversary. My roommate looked at Cynthia and made her realize something was going on. She reached on her pocket and found that she had her present in the pocket. So, where did the cop got a box that looked exactly like the one Cynthia’s had gotten for her anniversary?
The next part of the story is really confusing for me; I can’t really make sense of it because when my roommate was telling me we both started crying like little girls. I was too happy for him and we hugged each other while he was finishing the story. So you could say I wasn’t paying attention anymore, but it was really hard to do that when I was so happy for him.
But I will summarize what the end was all about. The other box had the ring with a princess cut diamond… and she said …
Yes !!!
The Police officer was a friend of my roommate and everything was better than what he planned.
There was a camera filming everything and I hope I get to see the video soon.
